Right now, thousands of people are gearing up for a well-earned break.

Even people who are deeply unhappy in their jobs can put that feeling aside while the sun’s out, the holiday’s booked, and life feels good enough. The dissatisfaction doesn’t go away. It just goes quiet.

Then September arrives.

The holidays end, the evenings draw in, and life snaps back into the routine they’d already started questioning. That familiar back-to-school feeling returns — except this year, it’s not about school. It’s about the job they already know they want to leave.

We see it every year without fail: franchise enquiries climb sharply from September through into the new year, and it’s not casual browsing. It’s people who’ve already decided something has to change, actively looking for what comes next.

You might expect me to say the answer is to have your franchise up and running in time to meet that wave. It isn’t, not this year, anyway. Getting from “we should franchise” to actually being a franchise, ready to take on your first franchisee, isn’t something you can do in the weeks before September. If you’re only making that decision once you see the wave arrive, you’ve already missed it.

Franchising properly, from decision to first franchisee, is realistically a 12-month process — which means the groundwork for catching the autumn 2027 surge needs to start now, not next spring.

That’s a bigger conversation than one email can usefully have. But there’s a fast way to answer the one question that actually matters right now: could your business realistically be franchise-ready in time for 2027, or is there a genuine gap to close first?

Our free Franchise Ready Review is designed to answer that clearly and concisely. You’ll walk away knowing exactly where you stand against what a franchise-ready business actually looks like, and whether 2027 is a realistic target or something to aim at a little further out.

Either answer is useful. The only bad outcome is finding out a year from now, once the groundwork you could have started today still hasn’t happened.
