Franchise Operations & Support Services

Keep Your Franchise Network Thriving

Running a successful franchise network requires more than a great business model – it requires the right systems, support, and leadership to keep everything moving in the same direction. Our services help franchisors overcome operational challenges, strengthen network performance, and ensure long-term, sustainable growth.
A franchise has a lot of moving parts. Sometimes it runs smoothly, and sometimes it hits bumps in the road – every stage of growth has its own problems and challenges. It’s not a question of if you’ll face them, but when.. and how you decide to deal with them.

In our experience, every franchisor experiences the following problems at some point in their journey. Do any sound familiar?

Struggling to support franchisees as the network expands
Feeling frustrated by franchisees ignoring crucial updates or underperforming
Dreading dealing with contract issues, renewals, or underperforming partners

Low adoption of new procedures or tools

Poor attendance at meetings and training
Inconsistent franchisee performance without clear cause
A drop in productivity, or too many franchisees just “coasting”
Trouble with the legal aspects of renewals, resales, and enforcing franchise agreements

If so, you’re far from alone. Every franchise has to face these challenges at some time or another, and it can be helpful to think of them less as problems, and more as milestones you need to move past. Running into them actually shows that your business is moving forward, but being able to navigate them with confidence is the key.

So how do you make that happen?

Franchising is built on the principle of working smarter by working together. So why not apply that to running your own network?

Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply looking for ways to strengthen and grow your franchise, the first step is understanding where the opportunities and issues really lie. That can be difficult when you’re in the thick of running the business day to day – which is where an experienced outside perspective can make a real difference.

Our franchise specialists can support you across every aspect of your network, from franchise audits and improving operational structures to business mentoring, dispute resolution, funding for growth and everything in between.

Where a deeper understanding of your network is needed, our Franchisor Audit & Survey can show you what your franchisees are really thinking, where they’re encountering challenges, how closely they’re following the model and where they need more support. These insights can help identify performance gaps, improve communication and highlight where your attention will have the greatest impact.

Explore the areas below to see how we can help.

Improving network performance

Every franchise network has a mix of high performers, underperformers, and those who have become comfortable with “good enough.”

While underperformers may struggle with sales, compliance, or attitude, comfort-zoners often leave significant growth potential untapped. The result isn’t just lost revenue—it can impact morale, lower standards, and hold the wider network back.

Addressing these issues can lead to stronger sales, improved franchisee engagement, clearer expectations, and a more attractive proposition for prospective franchisees.

Our experts help uncover the root causes through objective analysis, network reviews, and confidential conversations with franchisees. From there, we can support you in implementing improvements, managing difficult situations, and creating a clear path forward for both the franchisee and the network.

Franchisee Business Development

Helping franchisees achieve more while giving franchisors greater visibility, consistency and control.

Our Franchisee Business Development Service combines benchmarking, performance reporting, action planning and coaching to help franchisees improve profitability and reach their potential.

Through regular reviews and objective performance management, we help create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across your network.

Dealing with problem franchisees

This is likely to be one of the toughest challenges you will ever face as a franchisor. Someone who ignores the rules, bypasses your procedures, or endlessly causes conflict. They might even be breaching your franchise agreement and stirring up problems with others in your network.

These are some of the hardest moments to navigate, especially when you’ve worked so hard to build strong relationships across your network. Confronting the issue directly can feel like risking everything you’ve established, not to mention opening up a minefield of potential legal issues.

Bringing in an impartial third-party consultant allows you to address the problem without being the “bad guy.” They act as a professional buffer, handling difficult conversations and managing disputes at arm’s length. This approach protects your relationships, maintains the integrity of your network, and ensures issues are addressed fairly and effectively.

With the right intervention, it might even be possible to bring them around and transform them into productive franchisees, again. If not, you’ll want to be sure you’re protecting yourself from any legal consequences should you decide to terminate.

Future-proofing your franchise systems

Running a successful franchise today is one thing, but how do you make sure you’re prepared for everything the future can throw at you?

How do you prepare your business systems to better handle challenges in the future?

We can help you by:

Building robust structures for recruitment, training, support, and retention of franchisees
Ensuring your systems are streamlined to be as effective and efficient as possible
Training & mentoring both head office staff and all future franchisees
Franchise business planning advice & guidance on implementation
Creating franchise agreements and setting up structures for both feedback & disputes
Most importantly, this is not a “one-size-fits-all” service, but rather one which can be tailored entirely to suit your business’ individual needs. Our team can act in an advisory capacity, get hands on operationally or offer support at a strategic level as non-executive director.

Funding Your Growth

Growth often requires investment. Whether you’re expanding your network, investing in new systems and infrastructure, purchasing equipment or vehicles, or simply need additional working capital to support the next stage of your business, having access to the right finance can help turn your plans into reality.

Through our specialist funding partner, TFC can introduce you to a range of finance options designed to support established businesses and franchisors.

From commercial loans and asset finance to vehicle finance and refinancing, we’ll help connect you with specialists who understand the franchise sector and can explore the funding options available to you.

Boosting conference success

Franchise conferences are a fantastic opportunity to inspire your network, share new ideas, and promote best practice, but sometimes even the best messages meet resistance. Often, the issue isn’t what you’re saying, it’s about perception.

Your franchisees might well be almost entirely independent business owners in their own right, and you probably have a great relationship with them, but it can be hard to get past the classic boss-employee dynamic that sometimes lingers. They can assume that if you’re giving them a message, you’re doing it for your benefit much more than for theirs.

Hearing advice and guidance from an outsider, someone who isn’t directly involved in the franchise dynamic day-to-day, can make a huge difference. It’s the reason why guest speakers can be so effective at network events.

So, why not consider bringing in one of our specialists as that guest speaker at your next event?

We can match you with one of our consultants who has the experience, expertise and, above all, the personality, to be seen as a voice of authority by your franchisees, and bypass all those preconceptions.

Franchise Mentoring – Expert Guidance at Every Stage of Your Growth

Franchising a business or scaling a network is a rewarding but complex journey.

As your business evolves, the challenges you face change, and having an experienced sounding board to provide perspective, challenge assumptions, and guide strategic decisions becomes invaluable.

TFC Mentor is a dedicated advisory service designed to provide founders, franchisors, and senior leaders with the strategic guidance, accountability, and troubleshooting support they need to achieve sustainable growth. Drawing on our 30 years of experience in the franchise industry, a TFC Mentor acts as your non-executive partner, helping you navigate every stage of your business evolution.

What is it really like to work with a TFC Mentor?

Sometimes the best way to understand the value of mentoring is to hear from someone who has experienced it first-hand.

Emma Sweet, founder of Ace Places Playing Cards, worked with TFC Director Steve Eastaugh as her business mentor while developing and scaling her business. In these short videos, Emma shares her experience of having a dedicated mentor alongside her – from accountability and overcoming operational challenges to making the transition from business owner to franchisor.

Who is TFC Mentor for?

We provide flexible, professional support to organisations at every stage of their growth journey.

Pre-Franchising
(Preparing to Scale):

Before you test the viability of a franchise model, we help founders build the operational stability and infrastructure needed for growth. We ensure your core business is robust, profitable, and ready for replication. This stage can also include a comprehensive Franchise Ready Review, providing a clear assessment of your readiness and a practical roadmap for moving forward.

During the Franchising Process
(Navigating the Transition):

While our development team helps formalise your franchise model, systems, and documentation, your TFC Mentor provides guidance through the personal and organisational transition of becoming a franchisor. We help you develop the mindset, structure, and leadership approach required to build a successful franchise network.

Post-Franchising
(Scaling as a Franchisor):

As your network grows, new challenges emerge. We help franchisors increase franchisee performance, strengthen network engagement, improve operational consistency, and unlock further growth opportunities. Support can begin with a detailed network audit to establish a baseline and identify areas for improvement. For businesses seeking additional strategic oversight, mentoring can also extend to Non-Executive Director (NED) support through some of the franchising sector’s most experienced leaders.

What Does the TFC Mentor Programme Include?

Every mentoring programme is tailored to your organisation’s specific needs. Support can be delivered weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or quarterly, with the frequency adapting as your business evolves.

Strategic Business Planning
Developing clear, actionable roadmaps to help you achieve your short-, medium-, and long-term growth objectives.
